This Weekend, we will hold our annual parish Diocesan Mission appeal. Usually the Diocese would assign a mission for the parish to support, and a Mission Sister/Priest would speak to us about their particular mission’s ministry. However, this year, our assigned Mission, the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, who minister to the poorest communities in the U.S.A., the Appalachian mountain area in Kentucky, cannot be with us. In speaking on the phone with a Mission Representative, Sr. Consolata Ojemeh, OSF, she informed me that they just could not afford the plane ticket and travel expenses to come to NH, and sadly would have to cancel. So as a parish, we will still support the sisters and their mission by having a basket of free will offering at the podium in front of altar this weekend and praying for them. I figure, if they cannot afford to come, they really need the funds to keep their ministry going. I will speak at each of the weekend Masses about their specific Mission on their behalf.
Thank you to Etienne Poirier who recently painted the inside of the Mary Grotto a shade of nice blue. The Grotto is located in front of the Rectory. A beautiful larger statue of Mary depicting Our Lady of Grace, will soon adorn the inside of the grotto when it arrives.
You may have noticed fewer chairs in the church, specifically the front row of each side, of each section of pews. The chairs have been removed to allow space for wheelchairs. This will also ease the flow of people traffic during Communion. The chairs were taken downstairs to replace broken and worn out chairs in the “chapel/pink” meeting room.
May God continue to bless us and our little Catholic Parish here in the White Mountains!
