Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July!

Let us give thanks to God for our Country, especially our service men and women who have served, and continue to serve in the Armed Forces, as well as the First Responders. May the Good Lord protect us, guide us, and continue to keep us united.

Lately it seems politics, news organizations, and Party affiliations, have clouded the Country’s unity. Jesus said: “If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.” (Mark 3:25)

We need to pray for our Country, our Leaders. We must strive individually for harmony. Debates, dialogue, and even heated expressed disagreements over policies and ideas, are okay as long as the goal is a more perfect union. That is, both sides respect each other’s differences in opinion; and remain civil, recognizing each other as Americans first and foremost.

It was encouraging to see the comradery between the members of the House of Representatives having fun playing baseball at their annual outing in Washington, D.C.. They demonstrated great accord as Americans even if playing on opposite teams.

This 4th of July, I encourage you to please take a moment out of your busy day of perhaps barbequing, relaxing, watching the Parade, observing the firework display; to say a prayer for peace and unity in America. May the Lord continue to Bless Her.

I am proud of our Knights of Columbus Council 4th Degree members who served as Honor Guard for the first time in our newly resurrected Council for the funeral services of fellow brother Knight, Eddie Clermont, this past Monday. They did a great job and added such solemnity to the Liturgy.

There will be no Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament this Wednesday, 4th of July, so that Adorers may spend time with family & friends. However, there will be mass at 8:30am and the church will be open between the hours of 9am until 5pm for anyone who would like to make a visit and pray.

First Saturday Mass for the Devotion of Mary, Saturday July 7th, will be celebrated here at 10AM. Please join us.

May God bless us, our parish and God bless America!
