MASS INTENTION CHANGES
Mass intentions - the ability of anyone to have a Mass offered for a living or deceased person - is a very important part of parish life. For pastoral reasons - the spiritual welfare of God's faithful..both living and deceased - the parish will be allowing more than one Mass intention at two Masses only during the course of each week. Beginning in September, one Mass on the weekend will include three intentions for that particular Mass and one Mass on a weekday will also include three intentions for that particular Mass. These two Masses during the week with more than one intention are called Collective Masses. On Jan.22,1991, the Congregation for the Clergy issued a decree adopting this practice. The principle rules governing this practice are: 1. The donors of the Mass offerings must be informed and agree to combine their offerings with others in a single Mass. 2. The time and place for the celebration of the Mass are to be made public. 3. Masses for collective intentions may not be celebrated by a priest more than twice a week.
