Message from Fr. Eddy:

Hello Everyone,
Since there is no new information to convey at this writing, I thought I would take a different direction.

Jesus, in Today’s Gospel tells us, “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy burdened, and I will give you rest.”
For the past three months we have been burdened with restrictions placed upon us because of the pandemic which has affected all of our lives.  Our spiritual and social lives have been disrupted, and all of this has caused a burden on everyone.

During these months, we have also witnessed social unrest and violence, and on a more positive note, peaceful demonstrations promoting peace and justice.

In the Scriptures, we are all asked, as disciples of the One Lord, to accept His invitation to pray as Jesus did, “that all may be One as We are One.”
We may at times feel burdened with our own personal problems as well, but we must have faith and place our hope in Jesus who promises that He will make our burden light and give us rest

Among the many prayers you may have, I would like to introduce a prayer adapted from the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem:

O Lord Jesus Christ, we pray to You through Your five wounds.
Give us the strength to love all whom Your Father has created and, especially our enemies. Free our hearts and souls from sin, from prejudice, from self-interest and from cowardice, so that we may be worthy of Your Sacrifice. Let your Spirit fall upon us all, so that it may make us committed and sincere ambassadors of peace and love among our brothers and sisters and, especially, among all those who do not believe in You. Give us faith to face all the problems of everyday life and to deserve one day to approach Your presence, humbly but without fear.  Amen

Message from Fr. Eddy:

Hello Everyone.

It has been an unexpected journey for all of us over the past couple of months.  Fortunately, for all of us, we have been able to “weather the storm” so far.  The most difficult part in all of this was our inability to be able to communicate with everyone.  Now that we are slowly coming out of restrictions imposed on all of us, we must continue to remain vigilant that we all remain healthy and wise
We are trying to slowly bring our parish sacramental life back to some normalcy and it will be some time before this can be done.  Members of the Pastoral and Finance Councils have been meeting and our initial discussions revolved around the celebration of the Mass which is central to the life of the parish.  In order to bring back the normal Mass schedule with the restrictions that are still in place, would ask for volunteers to act as ushers at Masses to insure that we are following the social distancing regulations.  To this end, I would ask for those of you who would be willing, to please email me at ebisson@rcbm.org indicating at which Mass you would be willing to help.

I think that many of you have become aware that a new pastor has been assigned to St. Joseph Parish.  He is Rev. John J. Mahoney, Jr.  His pastorate will become effective on July 27th.  Fr. Mahoney has agreed to prepare some blurbs for the bulletin to introduce himself to you.
In the meantime, please continue praying for our parish and your new pastor, and the day the parish can begin functioning under the “new normalcy”.

Our needs change over time as many of us begin to experience mobility limitations, physical impairments and cognitive changes. Other needs arise as well in the midst of global pandemic. Not all seniors have family nearby to assist with their needs, which is where the church community can step up
