Congratulations to our Faith Formation students who received the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation this past Friday by Bishop Libasci.  We pray that the Holy Spirit will be their guide and inspiration as they seek to understand and follow in the way of God’s plans for their life.
 

Please keep in your prayers all those serving in the U.S. Military and their families.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts Of your faithful and kindle in them the fire Of your love, Send forth your Spirit and they shall he created, And You shall renew the face of the earth.
0, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did Instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations,  Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

Dear Parishioners and Visitors,

The Ascension of the Lord establishes Christ’s universal rule over the Church as the visible Body of Christ, equipped with the power and courage for mission. It assures us of our destiny to be with Christ now and on the last day. As Saint Augustine says, “While in heaven, he is also with us; and while  on earth, we are with him.”  In these days of coming and going, we remember that Jesus Christ, having entered the sanctuary of heaven once and for all, intercedes constantly for us as the mediator who assures us of the permanent outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Another transition should be anticipated. Church Law (Canon 538, §3) requires pastors to offer their resignation to the Diocesan Bishop upon reaching 75 years of age. Last fall, when I complied with this legal prescription, Bishop Libasci asked that I remain in office “for the present time.” Each day now, I await further instruction.

Thank you for your good witness to the steady practice of the Catholic faith and, as we approach the Feast of Pentecost, may the Holy Spirit be our continuing and abiding strength and guide as the circumstances of life unfold in the world around us.
